Fascinated by the world of martial arts, he entered the door of "Paraestra Tokyo" in 1999 and studied under Nakai Yuki, a pioneer of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. He lost a lot at first, but gradually he started to show his talent, and after winning the All Japan Open, he entered the world of professional jiu-jitsu.

From around 2003, he trained under Toshiyuki Sato (known as Wado, one of the few Japanese jiu-jitsu practitioners to have received a black belt directly from Leonardo Vieira, the jiu-jitsu and ADCC world champion) and Kuniyoshi Hironaka (Shooto world champion, UFC/DREAM fighter, and Cage Force champion).

In 2006, he won the IBJJF Pan American Championships in LA, and in the summer of the same year, he won the tough tournaments at his first appearance, and placed third in the adult brown belt featherweight division.

He moved to Hong Kong at the end of June 2008.

In July 2009, he opened his own gym, Hong Kong Jiu-Jitsu, which had been his long-time goal.

After establishing his own gym, he participated in various international competitions both in Japan and overseas, winning the 2010 IBJJF Asian Championships Master 1 Black Belt Open Weight and the 1st China International Championship Open Weight.

In 2013, he won the IBJJF Master & Senior (now Masters) World Championships Master 1 Black Belt Feather Weight 3rd place.

In May 2016, he started "Master Japan Fukuoka" at GOLD'S GYM Commercial Mall Hakata store with his older brother Kuniyoshi Hironaka.

He is one of the jiu-jitsu practitioners who can prove that even without exercise experience from an early age, he can compete with the world with his techniques, and he is highly regarded as an instructor not only for his actual match records, but also for the details of technique and the content of his classes that emphasize movement.

In recent years, he has expanded his scope of activity to refereeing international competitions in Asian countries and holding seminars in various countries.
